George Germer Sr. founded our company in 1972. When he started the company we specialized in foundation excavation and residential site preparation. We also did intermittent small contract work for the city. Over the 12 years that George Sr was president, he gained and passed on a wealth of knowledge and experience to future generations of our company.
In 1984, ownership was transferred to George’s eldest son Larry. Larry returned home from his tour in Vietnam as a Seabee in the Navy. With the Seabees Larry helped build entire bases, bulldoze and pave thousands of miles of roadway and air strips, and a myriad of other construction projects in Vietnam in wartime conditions. When he came back Larry used his skills and determination with George Sr’s dependability and outstanding work ethic, to build the company to what it is today.
George Germer Jr. also served in Vietnam between the years 1969-1972 before returning to the states. In 1972, he returned to Germer Construction working alongside both George Sr. and Larry. George Jr. also played an important role in the success and growth of Germer Construction.
Larry’s son Dave began working for the company in 1992, where he began as a laborer and pipe layer for several years before attending project management / estimating school in Portland, Oregon. In 2000, he returned to Moscow taking over those duties for the company. Under Dave’s leadership Germer has taken on an increasing number of large scale projects ranging from private residential subdivisions to million-dollar design build projects on WSU and U of I campuses. Along the way, Germer has built a reputation in the area. As Dave takes on leadership of the business he hopes to take the best traits from the previous generations and build on them with his own ideas, all the while continuing to operate a respected company that is great to work for, honest, and competitive.
