George Germer Sr. founded our company in 1972. He started the company specializing in foundation excavation and residential site preparation, intermittently doing small contract work for the city. Throughout George Sr’s 16 years as president, a wealth of knowledge and experience was obtained and passed on to future generations of our company.
In 1993, ownership was transferred to George’s eldest son Larry. Larry returned home from his tour in Vietnam as a Seabee in the Navy. The Seabees have built entire bases, bulldozed and paved thousands of miles of roadway and air strips, and accomplished a myriad of construction projects. Working under the intense work conditions of the war, Larry then applied his skills and determination with George Sr’s dependability and outstanding work ethic, which allowed them to build the company to what it is today.
George Germer Jr. also served in Vietnam between the years 1969-1972 before returning to the states. In 1972, he returned to Germer Construction working alongside both George Sr. and Larry. George ultimately took a position with the city of Moscow water department in 1985, where he soon became head of the department. He then later decided to return to construction in 1996, where he played an important role in the success and growth of Germer Construction.
Larry’s son Dave began working for the company in 1992, where he began as a laborer and pipe layer for several years before attending project management / estimating school in Portland, Oregon. In 2000, he returned to Moscow taking over those duties for the company. Since then they have been taking on a multitude of large scale projects ranging from private residential subdivisions to million-dollar design build projects on WSU and U of I campuses. Along the way, he has built his own reputation in the area. Dave would like to take the best traits from the previous generations and incorporate his own to the business, as well as continue to operate a company that is great to work for, honest, and competitive.
